New devices expand design possibilities, but also lead to more challenges in the creation of interaction forms. This article introduces DESIGNi, a workbench that supports designers in exploring interaction forms and their attributes in a structured and systematic way. We present the components of DESIGNi and its use in creating a business application. Moreover, a comparison of the interaction forms specified in the design process with DESIGNi and the perceived interaction characteristics in user studies revealed interesting insights and points for improvement in the interaction design itself.

Interacting with the 3D content present in games and virtual environments generally involves some form of 3D interaction. As such, the design and development of 3D spatial interaction devices are important in creating more realistic and immersive user experiences in 3D virtual environment applications through natural and intuitive human expression. In general, current commercially available 3D input devices for virtual reality applications like data gloves, multiple DOF sensors and trackers, etc. typically come with a heavy price tag. The objective of this research is to investigate an approach to setting up an inexpensive 6-DOF optical tracking system using Wii Remotes, which is adequate for 3D interaction in an interactive Head-Mounted Display (HMD) virtual reality system. For the purpose of HMD virtual reality, a user should ideally be able to use a 3D interaction device in a space surrounding the user.

The present paper discusses the potential benefits of interaction among citizens on the Internet in the area of public administration. Its arguments are supported by a study previously conducted on a Bulletin Board System (BBS). Special reference is made to two instances where citizen interaction succeeded in prodding public administration into helpful action. Although e-Government policy in Japan has already accomplished information disclosure and digitization of documents, the latter mostly cover common requests and procedures. However, requests that are hard to classify or altogether non-conforming cannot be handled by local governmental websites because of functional disorder stemming from case complexity or lack of human resources. Making a case for resident collaboration and mutual aid, this paper takes its cue from studies of customer interaction in the field of business management. Finally, the paper proposes a specific collaboration and information storage model (TKAS) as...

An interaction narrative explaining the interaction flow for a manufacturing decision support system. This single document allowed developers in different team, who had met just once to work in prototype with seamless handover. This was also the demo script used to pitch to senior management. Bottom line : Natural interaction narratives can eliminate systemic complexity by orders of magnitude compared to artificial documents like specifications and design.
