Microarray Quality Control

www.ebooks.com/cj.asp?IID=226441&cjsku=226441...
Microarray technology provides researchers in the life sciences with a revolutionary tool for measuring gene expression. However, this highly developed process involves multiple steps, from sample selection to data analysis, each susceptible to potentially costly errors. Without sound quality control, experimental microarrays may produce useless or, even worse, misleading results. Microarray Quality Control provides a comprehensive resource for ensuring quality control in every step of this complex process. From experimental design to data processing, analysis, and interpretation, the emphasis in this text remains on practical advice for each stage of planning and running a microarray study. Chapters cover: * Quality of biological samples * Quality of DNA * Hybridization protocols Scanning * Data acquisition * Image analysis * Data analysis Written for the broad group of workers-biologists, mathematicians, statisticians, engineers, physicians, and computational scientists-involved in microarray studies, Microarray Quality Control features a straightforward style easily accessed by various disciplines. Useful checklists and tips help ensure the integrity of results, and each chapter contains a thorough review of pertinent literature. The only complete, systematic treatment of the topic available, Microarray Quality Control offers students and practitioners an invaluable resource for improving experimental quality and efficiency.

The Quality Control of Medicines

www.ebooks.com/cj.asp?IID=1879658&cjsku=1879658...
The Quality Control of Medicines documents the proceedings of the 35th International Congress of Pharmaceutical Sciences, organized by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland on behalf of the Federation Internationale Pharmaceutique, held in Dublin, on 1-5 September 1975. The theme chosen for the Congress was ""the basis for the quality control of medicines"", because of the importance and relevance of quality control in the production and distribution of medicines at national and international levels. This volume is arranged according to the manner in which the theme of the Congress was developed by the eminent invited speakers. Following the inaugural address a main symposium was held where five speakers presented a review of the quality control of medicines under the general headings of (i) chemical and physical aspects; (ii) biological aspects; (iii) control of drug delivery systems; (iv) storage problems; and (v) problems of international control. Certain aspects of the content of the main symposium were then developed in greater depth in parallel symposia. In the first parallel symposium some novel physicochemical aspects of the quality control of medicines were treated under the headings of spectrofluorimetry, mass spectrometry, detection in gas chromatography, and automation in pharmaceutical analysis. The second parallel symposium developed certain microbiological aspects of quality control under the headings of sterility testing and microbiological control of non-sterile products and ophthalmic preparations. The final symposium on submissions to regulatory bodies and international aspects of drug control covered aspects of politics in submissions, regulatory problems in small countries, and various pharmacopoeial problems.

Food Industry Quality Control Systems

www.ebooks.com/cj.asp?IID=365523&cjsku=365523...
After a sordid litany of recalls courtesy of the food industry, consumers are pointing the finger at companies that have failed to institute proper recall prevention techniques. While historical analysis shows no company is exempt from recall risk, most can be prevented with an efficient and verifiable quality control program. Authored by a 20-year food management specialist, Food Industry Quality Control Systems is the only single-source summary of basic quality control program requirements. With an emphasis on top-down management commitment, this book demonstrates the complete information collection process and essential program elements, including pest control, lot coding, organizational charts, specifications, supplier certification, and sanitation programs. This valuable reference devotes an entire chapter to each of the program areas discussed for enhanced understanding of each. Additionally, it outlines a variety of sub-programs and functions, including HACCP, a seven-principle framework that assists food manufacturers in ensuring comprehensive and sustainable food safety. This example-filled resource helps industry decision-makers answer these key questions: What will management's commitment to quality be? Will top management provide the personnel and resources to create and maintain a thorough quality control program? Who will run the quality program, and what will the reporting structure be? Where will ideas regarding quality come from? This book is a springboard for food industry professionals to start their own quality protection program while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations. It is a clear and concise knowledge base that food safety and quality managers truly cannot afford to be without. Readers can visit the CRC website to download supporting programs in a "plug-and-play" format and adaptable forms with specific examples and resources that enable companies to customize forms to fit their own needs.
